Dance performance “Onmyoji”
The dance with the theme of Onmyoji is a performance deeply rooted in traditional Japanese spiritual culture. Onmyoji (Onmyoji) were spiritual beings in ancient Japan who performed divination and prayer based on the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements (a philosophy that preaches the balance of natural elements and energies). The dance emphasizes movements and expressions that symbolize the power of nature and spiritual energy.
Specifically, the opposing elements of Yin (darkness, silence, softness) and Yang (light, vitality, strength) are harmonized to embody the changes of the natural world. The dancers use ancient costumes and traditional tools (e.g., those that symbolize Shikigami and spells) to invite the audience on a journey into the spiritual world through the contrast of stillness and movement, light and shadow.
This performance is an experience that allows you to feel Japan’s historical spirituality and deep connection with nature, and depicts a unique worldview that combines ritual beauty and mysticism.
