In December 2024, “IORIYA”-produced BASARA, a Yosakoi dance team from Sapporo, Japan, had the honor of participating in two major cultural parades held in Tainan, Taiwan, in celebration of the city’s 400th anniversary.

It was a great privilege to perform in this historically rich city during such a momentous year, representing Japan through vibrant movement, sound, and style.
“A Pulse of Passion — The Spirit of BASARA”
BASARA brought its powerful, high-quality Yosakoi performance to the streets of Tainan, combining dynamic choreography, the vibrant rhythm of traditional Japanese drums, and costumes designed by IORIYA that fuse elegance with energy.
As the dancers moved through the crowd, they radiated passion and precision. With each beat and motion, they captured the spirit of Japan and shared it with an international audience.
Spontaneous applause and cheers filled the air, creating a strong bond between the performers and spectators — a true moment of cultural harmony.

About Tainan’s 400th Anniversary Events
As Taiwan’s oldest city, Tainan celebrated its 400th founding anniversary in 2024 with a series of large-scale events. Parades, artistic showcases, and cultural programs brought together creatives from across the globe. It was a powerful platform for cultural dialogue and mutual appreciation between Taiwan and Japan.
